Advaita-Oneness!

Hello all,

Namaste! Hope all of you had a great week where you were able to balance the dual nature of your personality as well as that of the material world. It indeed needs utmost balance to be centered in the chaos of the material world. Dvaita, the dual nature always would come and try to topple us from our own center. That is the nature of the Samsara Sagara- the ocean of the material existence. We cannot escape it as long as we are within our own physical body. But we can always surrender to it and transcend it.

To surrender: What is surrendering in its true essence? Is it to be a puppet in the hands of our own life circumstances and be like a windswept leaf that goes any which way the wind takes? Is it the way we are supposed to live? Or should we fight our heart out and stand strong in the way our mind shows? Both are not correct. In the first case, we are not at all taking charge of our life and will. Here as we are not using our will, energetically we are not present. We have no energy signature and we are missing from our own life.

In the second case, we are fighting. Fighting is resisting. Anything we struggle against increases in strength. This is a spiritual law. 'What we focus on, increases in our life'. So, here our focus is totally on resisting and fighting. By the mere fact of us giving it focus, it starts increasing in strength. Soon we find mired all around in the very thing we are trying to resist. It comes as chaos, fights, confusions, and attitudes.

We keep on fighting, arguing, and resisting. But the fights keep on coming. There is another battle to wage the next day. This is the energy many times the political and party arenas embrace. People are constantly bickering and arguing to get their point across. Here the energy is that of getting your point across any whichever way, whether shouting, arguing, grandstanding or putting the other down. This is the energy of division.

'What we put out as energy, comes back to us'. So, is there any wonder people feel like they are always in a gladiator arena or war zone? That is the energy that is being put out. Of course, that is what is going to come back. The Universe is a giant, neutral boomerang. It doesn't care whether we are nice, compassionate, or kind. It also doesn't care whether we are arrogant, rude, or with a fighting attitude.

To choose whether to be kind or arrogant, that is why we have been given free will. A kind person also needs to remember, who deserves their kindness. They should be aware as well, that their kindness would be useless before a person who is as angry and arrogant as a charging bull. A charging bull should not be tackled with words of kindness. In such a scenario, a kind and a compassionate person should also be powerful and strong enough to remove themselves from the situation to concentrate on another gentler soul.

There is even a proverb in my native Malayalam language, 'Vettan varunna pothinodu vedam otharuthu'. Don't try to give wisdom to a raging bull. So, the kind and the compassionate person should also have the wisdom to remove from a place where their wisdom is not valued or appreciated. Here is where the free will of a person to take charge of their own life comes into focus.

Many times we may not be fully able to change or transform our circumstances. But we have been given the free will to choose our response. This is the primary step. Surrender, to the circumstances, but choose the response in such a way that it leads to the very best outcome for our own life. Standing in this space, change our inner attitude, to envision what we want for our life.

Now, the law of attraction starts to function. Due to the virtue of our inner reality changing, it starts to attract the circumstances we want for ourselves. The outer reality also slowly starts to change to reflect the inner reality. This is the correct way to bring in our transformation for our life. Instead, we fight, resist and make our own lives very difficult.

This is the fight of the materialistic existence all of us go through. As long as we resist anything, whether the necessary change needed or trying to stay in the same circumstance, whatever we resist or fight against, persists. Without knowing this we keep on trying to change the circumstances or resist the change on the outside. But nothing changes. The inner reality is still the same. The outer reality also continues to persist the same as well. So, surrendering and later starting the transformation from within is the correct way to proceed. This is the case of Dvaita, the dual nature of the material reality.

To Transcend: Once we surrender, now we can proceed to the next stage of transcendence. We realize that, yes, the material realm is made of the duality of good/evil, right/wrong, dark/light, positive/negative, yin/yang, masculine/feminine and many more of the two sides of the same scale. We also realize this duality is actually a reflection of our own inner reality where we tend to see something as good or evil, light or dark, shadow or light. Remember, always 'Our inner reality reflects outside'.

Only when we see this division in our inner reality it percolates to our outer reality as well. But when we see it as a spectrum having a range of attitudes, behaviors, circumstances, and situations, we become open to the experiences that appear in our life. Now, we can adjust our responses to it and start to live a life with our will. That is why we have been given a mind, brain, intellect, and a will. If we have no capacity to do anything about our circumstances, why should we need a mind, brain, intellect, and will?

So, the implicit meaning is, yes, circumstances, chaos, and confusion would come. That is the nature of the material realm. But, we as a being is given, a mind to understand the circumstance, rationalize to realize the best actions that would bring us the greatest good. Make it solid by again thinking with logic with our brain. Then use the will to take actions to change, improve, destroy, or transform a circumstance to the best possible outcome, first for ourselves, the being. Then for the family, community, society, country, world, and later the Universe itself. The correct way to live.

Only in such a stance, the Universe as Brahman or the highest intelligence would stand behind us solidly. Here we are not selfish or selfless. Both are not good. One is not to consider anybody else. The other is to consider everybody else except oneself. But the correct way is to operate within our life, a world with Self-value.

So, in this space, we are forced to look after ourselves and then others. When the others come into the picture, we have to leave behind the divisions, groups, organizations and the mentality of us and them. The minute we treat humans as us and them, we are working against the Brahman. Yes, we can operate for our greatest good. That does 'NOT' involve bringing others down.

From this space, think. Now, are the political, religious, fanatical, or fundamentalist organizations doing a good job? Aren't they operating against a very 'just' Universe or the highest intelligence? The Universe is extremely 'just'. It doesn't care whether you are black, white, brown, American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Arab, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jew, atheist, agnosticDemocrat, Republican, communist, capitalist, fundamentalist or any other group or organization.

It just cares, Are you able to love your neighbor as thyself? The neighbor, we perceive as just the next door person. But the Universe wants us to expand our vision to see the neighbor as even a person from the other part of the world or even an alien who comes to visit the Earth. The true implicit meaning of the Bible verse, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself". Bible declares this tenet loud and clear. Only we humans many times don't see a neighbor in an illegal alien, infidel or the other.

Advaita-Oneness: It is not the sacred books that make the mistake. It is the humans who interpret it in a very narrow and selfish way that works for themselves and just their group alone. So, many times for such a person the doors of the Universe and higher wisdom remains tightly shut. If the Universe could speak, this is what it would say, "When you cannot see a neighbor in your own fellow being of this Earth, how can I, the Universe, see you in another way? When you are not ready to help a fellow being in the same space of rent (Earth), why should I help you?" Isn't the question and the point very valid?

We ask the Universe/ God/ Divine/higher intelligence to help us. But we are not even ready to extend a small helping hand in case a fellow human being we see as struggling. This is where the concept of Advaita, or oneness come into play. To get into the good books of the divine, we should be able to transcend all the Dvaita or dual nature and see the oneness in all the things that surround us, whether a cat, tree, stone, human being or even an insect.

We need to realize it is the same oneness that operates as us, exists as a stone, a bee, or a dog. In that particular instance, the divine has taken the form of a stone, that is all. So, everything, even the mud or soil underneath our foot deserves respect. It deserves the respect that it forms the ground beneath us, where we are able to stand. Think, if the same ground or soil caves in and a sinkhole develops, we would be a goner.

This is the sacred space the Universe is asking us to grow into. Advaita, oneness. Seeing the sacredness and the divinity that is being played in front of our eyes. In this space, our own life as well as that of another being, whether it is a human, bird, or bee or even the inanimate object like a stone or a mountain takes a magical nature of being the one Universe, Advaita, in many forms. We start to feel our own life interwoven with everything else. We are not an island. Every single thing is connected and we are just a very tiny piece in the huge puzzle called the Universe or Brahman.

Whether it was Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, or the innumerable ascended Masters, all were able to reach this sacred space within their mind to see the grand play of the Universe or Brahman. In the hymn called Lalitha Sahasranama, the Universe is considered as the grand play of the Goddess, Lalitha-the one who plays (Sanskrit). The whole Universe or Brahman is considered the manifested play of the Goddess. In this perception, we start to respect everything that comes into our life. We also start considering our own life as very sacred, that needs to be treasured.

In this space, we don't put others down and we don't allow others to put us down. We feel powerful and look with awe at the majestic play that is happening in front of our eyes. Our own life from a drab, every day, dull existence takes the form of magical, mystical, awe-inspiring proportions. But to reach this stage, the first condition is to see the divinity in everyone and everything. Advaita-Oneness!

The Universe is asking us to seize this exalted, majestic, and magnificent way of living, where we are a small, but very important part of the whole, the oneness, Advaita. But whether to capture it or not, that is always our free will and choice!

I wish you a good weekend and I'll see you next Friday!😉

Ralph Waldo Emerson writes, "There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance ; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better for worse as his portion that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till. The power which resides in him is new in nature, and none but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried".
