The hidden planet in Vedic astrology!

Hello all,

Namaste! Before proceeding with the post, just an announcement. I am planning to go back to the Google feed burner email subscription service and planning to shut down the Specific feeds email feed. I find that the specific feeds, is coming with numerous advertisements below the particular blog post. I don't like my subscribers to be bogged down with the advertisements. For that matter, I myself don't like advertisements. So, I should not bother my dear subscribers with random advertisements from a feed service. So, please look for the email from Google feed burner and resubscribe again to my blog. Thank you for your cooperation. (Re-posting from last week, once more).

Last week we discussed how due to our own negligence we are decimating our home. It has been long time since we discussed Vedic astrology. So, thought today we would again give a peek at astrology. What is the real purpose of Astrology? People sometimes become addicted with chart analysis and what their horoscope is saying. The horoscope is just a road map, that may come handy in our rendezvous here on the Earth. But it is a given, for the effect of the horoscope to come to fruition we, the individual need to put in the effort. There is no other way.

We have been given the mind, sense organs and the limbs to put in this action towards our life. Think about it. As a Soul we may be able to think. But we have no way to take any actions. The Soul may feel. But there is no way to express it. So, the humans who don't show emotions or feelings need to realize this. This physical life may be the only chance to express the emotions we feel. Once we go back to the state of the 'Soul' we may never be able to show or express it. Isn't that terrible? Think about it.

Writing that itself makes me feel terrible. How many hugs we could have given? How many beautiful words we could have spoken? The great many deeds we could have done with our limbs. A good word to a friend. A supporting nod to a family member. Our very presence to show, "Yes, I am there with you, one hundred percent". In our rush to make wealth and prosperity many times we miss all these chances to inter-relate. As of now as a Soul we have found ourselves here in this Earth-our blue planet. Anything we have to do, we have to do it here, on Earth.

Whether to live, have a career, family, kids, a great home, pursue our passion or creativity, anything we have to do, we have to do here on the Earth. Yes, there are attempts to search for living conditions on Mars, or other livable planets. But to reach that stage where we can shuttle to another planet, it may take another century or more or never. Until then this is the only planet we have. Last week we discussed how we may be totally destroying our home.
At this present moment, seven billion of us, humans are very much finding ourselves on this planet. This
should naturally reflect in our horoscope chart as well. So, what is the hidden planet in Vedic charts? Our Earth.

Vedic horoscope: In the Vedic horoscope, the southern style, which I had discussed before, all the nine planets-Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, Rahu and Kethu are taken into consideration. But the chart itself represents the person, the querent. The person is made up of all the elements that come from the Earth, whether it is Carbon, Sodium, Potassium, other minerals, amino-acids, Cholesterol or water. Through the person and through all these constituents, the planet Earth exists very much in our horoscopes.

In Christianity, the Book of Common Prayer shows
"Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust" for the funeral service. Underneath every thing, we are indeed dust particles. So, through us, the human being, the energy of the planet Earth very much comes through. All the other energies, whether it is of the Sun, Moon, or Mars has to act upon the person to bring the changes to the life of the person. Even though Earth is not specifically discussed in the horoscope, the planet Earth becomes the very center of the reading.

Who is the lord of the material realm or the physical realm? Saturn (Shani). Due to us being in the body, each of us are deeply tied to Saturn, whether we choose to or not. Saturn is the restriction. Aren't we restricted? We are restricted by our body. We can only do actions being in this body. Humans cannot fly. Our body cannot be exchanged. The bodily changes that happens with each one of us cannot be stopped. Restrictions. The realm of Saturn. This is the deepest connection we have with Saturn. As long as we are in this body, Saturn rules us and we are also connected deeply with the Earth.

Saturn: Saturn in the highest vibration is the true judge. He is the Karmakaraka (bestower of Karma). He judges the actions of each person according to the greatest discernment. We have already discussed, how Earth is deeply connected to Saturn. According to the actions we take for ourselves, for others and for the Earth itself, we would be judged. Whenever the periods of Saturn shows up as dasa (major timeline in Vedic astrology), antardasa (inner periods), 7.5 years of Saturn, then the lessser  transit eighth house Saturn ( Ashtamashani) or transit fourth house Saturn (Ardhashtama Shani) Saturn would have a say about our life.

We would be judged, to the best possible detail. Remember, according to mythology Saturn had to earn his value as Shaniswara, after many struggles and eons of penance. His question is, "Why should I bestow blessings on you without you showing me the effort?" The wonderful or the unfortunate thing about Saturn is, he is the one who rules organizations, huge companies, social systems and huge mass of people. A brilliant leader is ruled by the Sun many times. Sun (Surya) is the brilliance of individual creativity. But for that brilliant leader to have a million followers that Sun should be supported by Saturn, his own son.

Take the Sun that is shining brightly outside. It is just shining. But that Sun ray has to be taken up by Earth, the material realm ruled by Saturn to produce the trees and every food whether as plants or as animal products for humanity and the animal kingdom to survive. So, here also the planet Sun is very tightly related to Earth through Saturn. This is the case of the Earth. Let us bring that same Sun to our individual chart. In individual Vedic chart in the esoteric form, Sun is the higher knowledge of our Soul. In every chart, Sun exists in some house. This is the filter or the particular form of the divine brilliance that is destined to come through for that particular person for this current life.

For example, if Sun is in Aries, the person is a brilliant leader and has a lot of leadership qualities. But if the person just takes his/her leadership qualities easy and doesn't take any actions towards their education, skills, or career, the energy of that Sun as leadership just sits in the horoscope as a potential that should or can be developed. As long as the person doesn't take actions towards their Earthly duties (Saturn), nothing happens. This is how closely Earth and Saturn, the Karma karaka are connected.

Let us take another planet Mars (Kuja). Mars is considered the son of Earth in Hindu mythology. His invocation mantra starts with 'Dharani garbha sambhootham'-the one who was born out of the womb of the Earth. Thus, Mars also is closely connected to Earth. Even though Vedic astrology considers Mars and Saturn as enemies, Mars becomes exalted (Uccha) in Capricorn, house of Saturn or Makara. Mars is the significator of actions. A strong Mars is needed to take actions. But what type of actions need to be taken? Not random, useless actions. But structured, organized actions. The two words, structure and organization brings back Saturn solidly in the picture. This is why Mars is exalted in Capricorn.

A Mars without the organizational capacity of Saturn is literally useless. Now, these actions should be taken towards the betterment of ourselves. Any time "us", comes into picture, again Earth comes into the focus. Like this every planet is deeply connected towards the Earth through us. Vedic astrology never discusses the significations and the aspects of Earth in the classical texts. For that matter, I have not read much classics as well. My own knowledge comes from a divine source is what I have found out.

Earth-The hidden planet: So, last week we discussed how we are bent upon destroying our own home. This post was to draw the picture again on how deeply from within we are connected to Earth- our mother. It is not accident that Earth is treated as Mother Goddess in many of the ancient mythologies. She is indeed the nurturing mother, and we as humans are deeply connected to her. I should not even say connected, but we are her. Earth. Every thing we are, whether bones, brain, tissues, mind, sense organs or limbs, is Earth. But without realizing this we destroy the Earth that is outside.

Wisdom, bubbles, water, Soul, mind, conscious, subconscious, intellect, Sun, light, knowledge, attitude, effort, analysis, deep, recess, Moon, ideas, thoughts, creativity, creation, Brahman, Universe, purpose, words, power, desires, intentions, resolutions, butterfly, stars, way, heart, follow, brilliance, boat, ocean, life, direction, map, radar, Survivin, cancer, protein, stress, chaos, peace, oak, acorn, wisdom, Anahata, heart, space, mind, clutter, peace, awareness, Maya, commitment, colors, creativity, mythology, myth, treasure chest, key, ancestors, DNA, Karma, terrorism, heaven, ICe-cream, internet, social-media, Saturn, Earth

By destroying our home, through extrapolation we are destroying ourselves as well. In Vedic astrology all the energies come to existence through us, the humans. We are the beings who have been born on Earth with the potential for deep awareness. It is a fact, many times we don't give a second to develop our awareness. Our life has become work, eat, live, make merriment and die. In case, that is what we are supposed to do, why do we have an inbuilt conscience, intuition and a sixth sense? It becomes superfluous, isn't it?

Another point. Observe many of the people who did atrocious activities like Hitler, Saddam Hussein, or Muhammar Gaddafi. All of them had painful and terrifying last days. But there are others who never got their Karma, we can say. Do we really know, for sure? What if they have done so much of atrocious acts that they have to come for another ten life times to spent all that effect they created due to being the cause? That can happen, isn't it?

If we as humans consider ourselves so intelligent, think about the Universal intelligence. It should be a billion times (intelligent) than us. The spiritual law is solid tight. "If we become part of the cause, we are sure to become part of the effect". Hermetically sealed! There is no way around this. Absolutely no way. It is a given. 'As you sow, so shall you reap'. Any which way we look at it, there is no other way, than to be good towards ourselves, others and the Earth itself.

A second point. If we are not sure whether this Law of Karma even exists, isn't it better to operate on the good side of that spiritual law, in case it actually exists? It can be playing with fire, without even having the knowledge of whether that fire exists. By the time we realize it may be too late and we would be one step away from being burnt.

Being kind to ourselves, others and to our mother Earth, we start to reap good Karma. Our life will bloom and prosper. We would be surrounded by good family and friends. Our life itself would take the flavor of that deep earthiness-material abundance. That abundance also would stay not just for us but even for our children and grand children. That is the kind of blessing Earth as well as Saturn provides. Not the fleeting success of Rahu, intellectual success of Mercury or the glamorful abundance of Venus, but the lasting legacy of a life well lived. that would be looked with admiration by our descendants. We can even burn our horoscope and live with contentment and prosperity.

So, let us be kind to our mother Earth. We need to use her resources with respect and compassion. If we are not wise, the higher forces who are much more wiser would take brutal actions. We would be helpless souls caught in the wrath of Earth as hurricanes, tsunamis, earth quakes, land slides and deluges. Once again let us remind ourselves, "As we sow, so shall we reap".

I wish you a good weekend and I'll see you next Friday!😉

Next week: Earth as the Goddess!
