Kethu- The wisdom of the Soul!

Namaste! I want to let my blog readers know about my new website-swaroopa.net. It came live on Vijayadasami day, the last day of Navrathri, 7th of October 2019. This is my way of offering my services to anyone who needs it. The details are described on the website. The actual service offering may take another few months while I figure out the remaining technical details. Now to the post.

Hope all of you had a great week, where you were able to realize your own true inner being. Last week we discussed Prakruthi, our own inner nature. Many times our social conditioning has become so deep, we lose the grip on our own nature. When we ourselves don't know who we are, how can another person know us? This becomes an unending loop. To know ourselves we seek validation and approval from others. But they are seeing us through our own conditioning, and they validate us for our conditioning. We start to trust, we are this, or we are that. But in reality we may be very far from what we 'think' we are.

Subconscious conditioning: This is how deeply we are conditioned. Our ancestors are even sitting in our own DNA conditioning us. Many times there are true gems that comes with this ancestral knowledge. For example, in many families the genes for Vedic astrology runs for generations. I am intuitively feeling, that particular family may have specific patterns of genes being expressed or specific array of proteins, go and activate specific genes. This leads to specific activation of DNA, so that people in those families are great with Math, good with intuition, excellent with unraveling metaphorical puzzles or  has the capability to study omens.

But along with the blessings of the ancestors, the patterns the ancestors were struggling with also comes to the forefront. For example, diseases run in many families. In many of the royal households of Europe, people used to struggle with Haemophilia. It is a genetic disease where one or two of the clotting factors for blood clotting gets impaired or is not there. This leads to cuts or wounds not clotting and the people bleed for long. They also have the chance of more internal bleeding or brain hemorrhage. In previous times, it was very difficult for a Haemophiliac person to thrive and survive. As the blood is damaged, many times the person may have other complications as well.

The same lineage of ancestors, which provided wealth and prosperity also gave a genetic disorder that can take a toll on the family. In such cases, it becomes even difficult to tackle the problem. But many times mental or attitude conditioning can be worked on subconsciously to bring out our own true nature. But when we don't even know who we are underneath all our conditioning, how can we ever realize what we have to work on? For example, when something is hidden, how can one find out such a thing even exists.

Ancestral wisdom: Let us elaborate this with an example. Let us take a family. The family had a beautiful diamond necklace, metaphor for an ancient knowledge like that of herbs, the family used to practice. Later consider a foreign culture like the British or the Spanish colonial force captured the country and made it their colony. Now, the family had to protect this knowledge. They would have hidden all the papyrus or writings somewhere deep in the Earth and would have totally started living in the new culture. But as the family had practiced that herbal medicine for generations, the knowledge is etched in their DNA, But after few generations, even the grandfathers would have forgotten such a knowledge ever existed in that family.

Now, let us come to the current times. Somehow a newer generation person when visiting the ancestral land, started to feel something is more there in the family. Here there is another concept, I need to introduce. I believe in ancestral guides who are sitting on the other side of the curtain of life guiding us. So, according to the timing the ancestors want, they selected a youngster who had the correct disposition, passions and discipline to pursue this ancient knowledge. 

Now the youth's interest has been tickled. She/He gets to work. They start to contact the grand dads or mothers of the family. Go to the local library, start to search on everything about the family and their ancient culture. Slowly the puzzle of the family starts to manifest into the diamond necklace the ancestors used to wear- The ancient knowledge of herbal medicine. Step by step the youngster is guided to reveal the deep mystery of his or her own ancestral wisdom. Now, they can share this knowledge with the current members of the family.

Like this many times, we the everyday beings don't realize. We as a being is a link in the long chain of our ancestors and descendants. It becomes our duty to take up our responsibility in that chain and do things that move ahead the duty of ourselves along with our ancestors. When the ancestral spirits bless us deeply, our own family lineage expands like a grand old Banyan tree. This is why in many cultures like Chinese, the ancestors are revered deeply. Their happiness bring in abundant blessings and their wrath also can bring in unfortunate events.

In these modern scientific age, we have left off everything that was ancestral as old, superstitious and fake. Not everything is fake. Yes, this knowledge was written for ancient times. So, it is laden with a lot of fluff. But it is also laden with deep wisdom. The Upanishads which were narrated few thousands of years ago rings true for even the current modern times. So, as a being we are supposed to take the Science to unravel the mysteries that are deeply hidden within the Universe outside and within us, inside. 

It is my Science education that helps me to understand the way genes and DNA work within us to transport the wisdom that many of our families have carried on for generations. Science should coexist with Philosophy and Spirituality. Science becomes pointless if it has no concurrent deeper meaning whether to help another human or to know more about ourselves. But here also the question comes, how do we know, which is the true 'us' and which is the conditioning? To understand this a being need to develop deep self-awareness. Here is where the Graha, Kethu comes into picture in Astrology.

Kethu: He is the shadow planet that is the nodal point of the Moon in Vedic astrology. He is depicted as the headless body of the demon (Asura) Swayambharu who tried to take the celestial nectar (Amrutha) from the Devas. He is headless. What does the head signify? Head is the center of logic and rationality. As Kethu has no head he lacks the logic or rationality. So, when Kethu is actively involved in a chart, the person becomes confused and doesn't know how to move ahead in his life. But a person who has a strong Kethu is blessed with deep spiritual wisdom. But there would be no way to bring this knowledge out.

Anything we want to express, we need the head. Eyes to see, ears to hear, mouth to talk and a voice to converse. All these parts unfortunately happens to be in the head, which Kethu doesn't have. So, until a head comes on top of this body, all the ancestral knowledge or wisdom stays hidden as the Diamond necklace deep within the Earth metaphorically or as the knowledge in the DNA.

Now, in any case if a head appears on top of the headless body of Kethu, Kethu starts to function, But if it is just Rahu, the chaotic energy of illusion, the whole body of ancient wisdom embedded in Kethu would be used towards selfish purposes. Rahu is the cheat, thief or the magician who uses magic to lull a person to sleep or dishonesty. Rahu wants every thing for himself and that energy would drive the person also towards selfish actions. Rahu, the snake head only got a few drops of the celestial nectar. So, he would keep the person away from the true gifts of spirituality.

Here is where the wisdom of the Divine, spiritual masters and ancestral guides are needed. To really partake the true blessings of Kethu, the grace of these guides are needed. Without those blessings, the Kethu blessings never come to flower and fruit. These blessings many times come as aspect of three planets, either Guru (Jupiter), Shani (Saturn) or Shukra (Venus). Guru was the guide for the Devas. Saturn got his knowledge through deep penance to Shiva, who is considered Dakshinamoorthy (The first Guru) and Venus is the Guru of the Asuras (Demons). In mythology, many times Venus is considered a greater Guru than Jupiter. Hence, Venus or Shukra gets exalted in Meena (Pisces), the house of Jupiter.

Wisdom of the Soul: Now, once the snake body gets the head in the form of Rahu with a graceful aspect of the above said three planets, Rahu also takes the form of a higher vibration. In the lower vibration, Rahu is the thief, cheat or a dishonest energy. But in the higher vibration Rahu can be a healer, a brilliant innovator, a creative genius, a technological geek. Rahu is the planet who brings, out of the box creativity. Such a Rahu goes directly to the snake body and starts to access all the ancient wisdom embedded in the DNA, not just for himself but for the whole humanity

Here, the snake, Swayambharu, Rahu and Kethu becomes complete. The knowledge of the ancient wisdom, the wisdom embedded in the DNA, of the ancestors, of one's own familial tree, the numerous lifetimes one has gone through, the wisdom of Kethu and the modern current technological innovations Rahu is brilliant at, becomes aligned. Due to this aspect, Rahu co lords the house of Aquarius, Kumbha. Kumbha signifies the divine being who is pouring the knowledge of the ancient wisdom from his pot all over the Universe. Rahu also owns the nakshatra that comes in Aquarius- Shatabhishek, the hundred healers or the hundred doctors.

Now, Rahu and Kethu has become one. The ancient wisdom of knowledge embedded in Kethu as music, writing, painting, drawing, creativity, art or anything that comes from within starts to pour out. Rahu becomes the mouthpiece as voice, actions, eyes, hearing to take that wisdom, change into a form of expression, whether of paint, music, words, arts or sculpture for the bigger humanity to enjoy.  

This is the wisdom of the Soul. The deep, ancient knowledge each one of us is carrying. It manifests in many unique forms according to the being, the family they are born into, their ancestors, their own knowledge of many lifetimes, the deep qualities each family and person carries. But almost always to unravel this puzzle a deep sense of exploration is needed. Research, that too deep inner work need to be carried out, to see the patterns, social, familial and cultural conditioning, how we are self-sabotaging ourselves, our own talents and weaknesses, how we are not really understanding ourselves.

The English word 'Integrity' many times is not fully understood by people. Integrity- is the process of integrating every small aspect of ourselves that were lost to us, and make it into one workable human being. These aspects could have been lost even in other lifetimes. Another amazing thing is, it is said in Spirituality, a deep/strong willed person can even call back all these aspects even from other lifetimes to bring it into one lifetime and become a whole, powerful being. Integrity- The total being one is meant to be, integrating every tiny aspect and accepting it as whole.

But, this blessing comes to life, the spiritual gift of Kethu, the wisdom of the Soul comes only to that person who is willing to take the tough job of knowing oneself truly, totally, innately. This work is not for a weak or indisciplined person. Inner work is extremely tiring and challenging. If a person is not careful, it can even take the person to the other side of the razor thin edge of sanity. Because in this realm all the work is mental, psychological and emotional. The physical part of the work comes later, much later.

This wisdom, unique and one of a kind is sitting in each of us. It becomes our duty to find it, dust it, polish it and use it towards ourselves and later towards our greatest good. Now, the question comes, is each one of us up to it? That is the realm of true mental agility and discipleship, to truly trust ourselves, our inner being to guide us and lead us to reach the greatest potential our life can ever achieve. Now, whether to work towards it or not- that is always a being's free will and choice!
