Be the Eagle!
Hello all,
Namaste! I want to let my blog readers know about my new website-swaroopa.net. It came live on Vijayadasami day, the last day of Navrathri, 7th of October 2019. This is my way of offering my services to anyone who needs it. The details are described on the website. The actual service offering may take another few months while I figure out the remaining technical details. Every blog post can be accessed from my website under the tab, Blog. This, makes remembering my blog posts and website very easy. Just simple swaroopa.net, not the complicated blog id address. Now to the post.
Last week, we discussed how we have to flow with our life and it should feel like a gentle stream meandering through the mountains and valleys of our life. Water is the very best example that comes to mind. It is a formless liquid. Any time it is put in a container, it takes the shape of the container. But the second it is taken out of the container, it takes the liquid form.
Our life also should have this characteristic. Any day we find ourselves in a circumstance, become as closely associated as water in that container. But the second the circumstance gives way to another situation, take the form that fits perfectly with the new circumstance. But as humans many times the habits and patterns we have allowed to form in us doesn't allow us to fit to the new circumstance. This creates mental hurdles within us, and we struggle with the new form that is being created.
From my own life, in early 2014, I struggled with the knowledge that my Biotechnology career was over. I was not ready to accept the fact that 20 years of my studies were not giving me the results I was expecting. It took me another two more years to accept this fact and start to chart out another new direction for my career. Life was asking me to fit into a new role and my mental perspective was not ready to accept this new status quo that was taking shape.
We humans find this happening again and again in our life. We become inflexible to the new circumstances and always find ourselves nostalgically looking back at the previous 'golden years' that we have lost. Shouldn't we really open our eyes? If humanity had not become flexible to the evolving circumstances we would have stayed as cavemen or in the dark ages.
The cave men had to first come out of the cave, start agriculture. Then settle. Later there were inventions, progressive thoughts and ideas which led to the era of Renaissance, industrial revolution and now the age of the internet. As humanity is evolving, so does the single human, to be flexible and evolve according to the circumstance that shows up in their life.
Self-limiting thoughts: But the problem with us is we become very comfortable in whatever status quo we find ourselves in. We don't want to break out of it. We start to find excuses for ourselves to stay exactly where we are. There is also another very physical limitation that binds us. Our own brain. Even though neural connections keep on happening throughout adult years, the speed with which the connection happens slows down. So, a new skill that an adolescent can learn very fast becomes difficult for a middle-aged person. Even slower for a person of advanced age.
Should that keep us stuck where we are for our life? This status quo in energy terms is deep stagnation. The life force of the person has become stuck in whatever current circumstances they are finding themselves in. This slowly sucks the life energy out of their life. Because the life energy is not flowing people become depressed and sad. This also can happen many times when we lose the spiritual foundation for our own life. This grounding anchor is very much-needed.
But that anchor should not take over our life so that we become inflexible and is not able to align to a new circumstance when it shows up in our life. If we look at this from an Astrology perspective, Saturn is the energy of this anchor, the deep grounding chord, the graha of the physical realm. But Saturn also is a huge planet. Anywhere Saturn sits, in that particular area we can feel a heaviness. This is the deep and solid energy of Saturn.
What is Saturn trying to teach us through this heavy and deep energy? In this area which Saturn rules make your foundation solid and strong. Like an anchor. Even a huge ship could be docked. But don't let the anchor become your whole life. From this very solid foundation build your structure so high that your creativity flies the realm of the open skies. Isn't it a beautiful concept?
For example, we want to achieve a great career. But to achieve that career we need a good education. A solid foundation. Now, keeping this education as the foundation, build a career where one is able to fly the mental skies of the creative realm. The anchor of Saturn should become the foundation. It should not be the energy that is so inflexible, the human is not taking any actions to work with this solid energy. Because a person is not ready to deal with the heaviness of this energy, many blame Saturn and it's properties.
Any big organization. Saturn is the energy behind it. Any big multinational corporation. Saturn is the energy behind it. For example, Apple is a huge corporation. But that doesn't mean they are not doing any creative design or progressive ventures. Being the solid company Apple they pursue the creative work of building an iPhone or an iPad. Using the solid energy of Saturn as foundation and later building things above it.
Keeping in mind that we are solidly anchored to our core or the Soul we need to flow with our life as a gentle stream. Or in another way take the best form a new situation demands and work with it to our best advantage. But here many times our own self-limiting thoughts and beliefs interfere with us. We have discussed the spiritual law before, 'We are our thoughts'.
If we truly believe we can only do so much, being in a small job or insignificant career, that thought is going to manifest in our physical reality. Here we ourselves are putting a box around us and staying within it. If I had decided I can only be a scientist for my whole life, I would not have been able to write a single word or a sentence. That self-limiting thought of being just a scientist actually kept me stagnant in the same place for some fifteen years.
A new paradigm of reality was trying to break through. But due to my inflexibility to welcome the new reality, it took me another five-seven years to really start putting down the first word of my blog. So, like this, due to our love for our comfort zone, fear of the unknown and the self-limiting beliefs we keep ourselves stuck were we are in our life.
Courage: Here, another character to have is courage. Okay, now we decided to pursue a new idea or welcome a new situation. This is the first step outside our comfort zone. Our mind would first resist the change. We just want to go back to the previous condition. As our inner reality is calling out to us to quit, our outer reality also starts to reflect that. Remember, 'our inner reality reflects outside'.
So, now people or circumstances show up who are very much against our idea, the new situation or what we are trying to do. Here the Universe is actually testing us, How much courage do you have? Do you really want it? Would you quit if the first obstacle shows up? We are tested again and again. Sometimes competition with other people start to ensue. How to tackle this?
As many of you may know, nowadays the modern society has become cut-throat competition. If it is social media, it has become how many likes, subscribers, followers you have? If it is business, trade wars are happening. With the society, people are working against each other. Competition, competition and competition. How can we survive in such a culture and do our Dharma?
Be an Eagle: Here is where the bird eagle comes into picture. An eagle! When a rain or thunderstorm happens, all the other birds, whether a crow, cuckoo or a sparrow finds a hole in the tree or find a dry spot in between the leaves, and wait the rain to be over. We have many times seen birds sitting and shivering in rain on a tree branch. A normal bird.
Now, what does an Eagle do? It flies very high above the rain clouds and access the blue open skies. It is so high the rain and thunder clouds doesn't touch it. The magnificence of an Eagle. It doesn't get into the rain or the thunder. It flies so high it can see the clouds below. As it is high up it can also access the food that other birds cannot reach. The Eagle has an unusual vantage point of what is happening. This is a metaphorical scenario I am explaining.
We should become that Eagle, much above the rain and clouds. Our thoughts should be aligned to the highest of ideals, we become the single majestic Eagle flying the skies of our mental space. Single! Original! Unique! As we are so high up we also get unique food materials or in other words, opportunities. In such a circumstance, there is no competition. But pure purpose and Dharma. The only competition is you, the previous you who has taken the form that aligned with a previous circumstance.

The rain and clouds are the everyday competition that is trying to showcase, project or grab our attention. We can ask, how can everyone become an Eagle. We can become that Eagle only if we are able to access the unique talents and gifts we have been provided from our Soul. No other every day job would allow us to stand apart. It is not as unique as what we have been provided from within.
That is why people who are nurturing their creativity many times produce highly original work. This is the realm of the creation- the realm of the divine itself. Brahma in Hinduism! Creativity and the God of creation. It becomes highly unique, authentic and original. When a deep well of source is within us, why worry about competition, people stealing our work and publishing/using it as their own? How much can anyone steal?
As creativity, that too our unique creativity is very much aligned with the energy of the Divine, we find knowledge and doors that were closed before (sometimes there even wouldn't have been any doors before) starting to open. One feels the blessings of the divine grace! That 'being in grace' brings up a deep gratitude for ourselves and how we have been placed in our life. This helps us to become even more an Eagle.
Is anyone kept away from this way of living? No. But we should have the courage and confidence to become that Eagle-original and high flying! For that we have to break all the self-limiting beliefs and ideas we have of ourself. Would it be easy? No. But when we have a very strong will, what can stand in our way? Now whether to do the work, become the eagle or not, that is always a matter of personal choice and free will!
I wish you a good weekend and I'll see you next Friday! 😉
Next week: Break the box!
