Break the box-Part 2!

Hello all,

Namaste! I want to let my blog readers know about my new website-swaroopa.net. Very simple id, not the complicated blog id address. Now to the post.

Last week, we discussed how we need to break the box of familial and social conditioning to keep ourselves free to live from our Soul's authentic perspective. Is it an easy task? No, the mind would try to interfere many times. As we have discussed before, the subconscious mind is a power house. Anything that is etched into it sometimes takes decades to be rewired. We as a human comes with deep conditioning even from our own ancestral DNA.

Ancestral patterns: It is not necessary, our ancestors were a fantastic bunch with impeccable characteristics. They have gone through deep and desperate circumstances. Many times they had to fight elements, nature and wild animals. At that time extreme aggressiveness would have been an asset to save the clan or the family. But that anger and rage would have gotten etched into our DNA. According to that DNA our subconscious mind would have been created.

Fast-forward some 200 years. That aggression and many other experiences have been wired into the current generation. A person from the current generation, let us not be gender partial, male or female is driving the car of the express way (in many places high way). A person from the side line, cuts in front of the car and speeds away. How is our person going to respond?

All the ancestral conditioning that is sitting in the subconscious mind would flare up like a lion. Before even his/her conscious mind realizes, they would be cursing at the top of their voice, speeding behind the car, chasing the car, honking and even showing one or two fingers. Here is the aggression truly the person's or their ancestors? Many times their own conscious mind even would not have had time to rationalize or figure out what is happening.

This is the rage and aggression that may be lying deeply hidden within us. We would not even have any idea about this emotion. Same with guilt, shame or fear. Many times families may have gone through deep shame or guilt. Think of a great-great-great uncle who was an outlaw and caught by the police and imprisoned. The family would have suffered a lot of guilt and shame. These emotional experiences would have taken a toll on their mind.

Emotion is the language of the subconscious mind. Anytime we feel deep emotion, we can be sure it gets very much wired into our subconscious mind and later into the DNA. This DNA gets transferred through generation after generation. We won't even realize many times the guilt, fear or shame we may carry is not even ours in the first place. But without deep self-analysis we are never going to realize this. We carry this burden which has been given to us, as ours. We won't even realize this enemy within us.

Sacred texts many times profess about this enemy sitting within. Our own lower emotions. When these heavy emotions are swirling around within our mind, the lighter emotions of love, kindness and compassion never gets a chance. So, without removing these emotions, it is very difficult to fly as a free Eagle in the highest of spiritual realms. Yes, the rewiring of this subconscious junk is a humongous task. The inner work is a thousand times difficult that an outer physical effort. That is why humans find it very tough to do.

Will power: Even though it is tough, it is doable. The thing is to become very aware of whom we are underneath every mask, persona and the personality we wear. This would make us realize our true inner nature. Once we know ourselves very deeply, we start to know our desires. What do we want? How can we achieve it? Our own true intentions. Here it is never to block or obstruct another Soul. They have their own path to walk. We should never obstruct, interfere o topple another from their own path of Dharma.

But it is also our Dharma to stand strong for our own intentions. That also becomes our Dharma. If our heart has been filled with a true desire, it is there to lead us on our path. But if we are not ready to stand up for that desire, isn't that still putting ourselves down? That is why it is said the path of Dharma is very difficult. People who have become comfortable in the status quo until now, would stand against us. But it becomes part of our Dharma to defend ourselves.

We have been provided with that desire. So, like any Soul we have the right to pursue our own Dharma. We don't have to ask anybody to accept, approve or defend us. That also shows we don't have trust in ourselves and our innate abilities. A weak willed person would get toppled when a strong willed person comes along and tries to make their will work. But here also to do one's own Dharma, we don't have to stop somebody else.

True Dharma never stops or puts down or devalues anybody. When we have our Dharma to work on, why try to bring another down. Now, standing in this space, think about all the religions that are working against another religion, even the groups in Hinduism included. Again to practice our own Dharma- we don't have to bring anyone down. It is when fear comes, and we don't have trust in our own abilities, we feel we should not allow another to be themselves. Also to make oneself or one's group powerful at the expense or disadvantage to others. True spirituality never does that. That is the difference between deep spirituality and the modern version of religion that are preached and practised many times.

True spirituality is open, compassionate and empowering to oneself and others. All others versions are just disguised as spirituality. So a deep and strong will power to stand firm on one's own convictions is necessary. Here is where our inner journey starts. We start to feel the deep pull to start working on our intentions. But here also many times, we work on a step and become comfortable in that step.

Comfort zone: For example, for the last three years I have been writing this blog. I am comfortable writing this. I was not comfortable before. But should I allow myself to stay in this comfort zone? Last year, the platform Quora showed up in my life. I was terrified to step out of my current comfort zone of blogging. With blogging, I don't really interact with the reader.

With Quora, it is not like that. I would have to interact. People would ask specific questions to me, which I have to answer. They may comment on my answers. I may have to respond. They may find fault with my concepts. They can argue and debate. I have to be okay with this new reality that is trying to show up. See, how we would be pushed out of our comfort zone, again.

This is the feature of the path of Dharma. I have started to realize this nowadays. As soon as we start to become comfortable, another step shows up. Now, the inner self asks us- How about now? Do you trust yourself? Do you have the will power? What are you going to do? Here, we have to break the old us and start to fill the new mold that is trying to show up.

We can always carry the old elements with us. That is inherent in us. But the mold is different. Now, the new reality is asking us to fill this one with a flexibility as water. Only the mold that was the old one is breaking. But the essence, the water, we are not breaking. Only now we have the task of filling the new reality. So, nowadays I write my blog and answer the Quora questions. Integration of the old reality with the new one.

Now, again I am becoming comfortable. The new step has started to show up in my life. My entrepreneurship. This is very new. Now, the path is asking to become water again and take all the previous elements and fit into the new reality. See, how we are supposed to really live our life? Once we become aware of what we are really desiring, every now, and then we are asked to break ourselves. Then build us again.

Break the box: Before we discussed, how we have to fly like an Eagle, the highest rungs of the imaginative and idea realms. In our path, we are taking those ideas and are trying to put it into our reality. Ideas as long as are just in our mind, are just ideas. To bring it into the physical reality, we have to take actions with our outward expression tools- our limbs and sense organs. These are mainly there to help us bring our ideas into manifestation.

If we are afraid of breaking the box we made for ourselves, whether it is the first step or the umpteenth step, we get stuck in the comfort zone. Once we are in the comfort zone, our energy starts to stagnate. Energy has to flow like a gentle river (water), not stagnate like a pool. Only when we can keep on breaking and rebuilding ourselves we can strive to achieve the vision or desire we have set for ourselves.

Every time a new step shows up, we are asked again and again by our higher Self, "Do you trust me? Do you have faith in me? Do you doubt me?" Yes, there is always the fear of taking the next step. The question then becomes should the fear hold us back? Anything of value that came into the physical reality would have been someone's idea. They had the courage to take that step and bring their dream into their reality.

So, shouldn't we also have the courage to break our own previous reality and grow into the new reality? Yes, it may be scary, but slightly thrilling step. If the Divine didn't want us to take that step, the step would not come in front of our eyes, mind, and awareness. So, shouldn't we take that step, break the old box and create the new one? Of course, it is always one's choice and free will!

I wish you a good weekend and I'll see you next Friday! 😉

Next week: Belief and faith!
