Spiritual power- Part 8!

Namaste! I want to let my blog readers know about my new website-swaroopa.net. Very simple id, not the complicated blog id address. Now to the post.
Last few weeks, we had been discussing numerous kinds of spiritual powers waiting for us in case, we are ready to go within and find ourselves. We discussed about conscience and how it keep us solidly within the correct tracks of our life, if we prefer to listen. We also talked about how we should first follow our intuition, then take charge of our mind-both emotional and logical and bring the best of both worlds into our life. The creativity of the emotions and the logic of the intellect.
But, have we noticed? Has the logical mind overtaken the emotional mind? Look at the modern day world. We are behind facts, what is the politically correct, what would give us the most say in a matter. How to be intellectually dominant, always. But in that run for intellectual dominance, are we leaving the humility and humanity behind?
For the last 100-150 years our logical mind has exploded in amazing ways. It has given us electricity, telephones, air planes, trains, cars, air, road and water transportation, internet, social media, infrastructure, all the modern amenities and lot more. Our life has become totally luxurious compared to how we used to live in the 1800 and 1900s. But has this constantly being in the lap of luxury made us arrogant, short sighted and egoistic?
Mind versus the heart: We have discussed this topic many, many times. The emotions that make us human are deep within our hearts. When we remove the heart itself from the picture, our own humanity gets removed from the picture. Have you ever wondered how a beautiful angelic baby becomes one of the terrible dictator or the most evil person? Sometime during their life the heart and emotions got removed from the picture. It became totally, pursuit of material things from the mind.
Emotions have a big part to play in what makes us human. Once that is removed from the picture we become robots. Before the Coronavirus hit, weren't many of us in a too mechanical life. Why were people who are in the 50s and 60s looking back at life as if we passed some golden age? (I get a lot of questions on Quora reminiscing about the lost golden years.) Why many of the memories become etched in our minds with a golden pen?
That is because with all those memories deep emotions were associated. Why some events whether very bad or very good get etched in our memories? The emotions behind it. Most people remember the birth of their kids or the time spent with grand parents or parents. This is due to the deep emotions associated with it. Same way anytime someone treats us with deep disrespect or arrogance, that memory becomes melded with the emotions they gave us. It gets deeply wired onto our psyche.
At this time let me quote the words of Maya Angelou, American poet and writer, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." The feelings comes from the emotions that came with the memory. So, whoever says emotions are not valid enough, think twice. Your own memory does not think so. Any experience you got deeply affected by, got etched into your own subconscious mind. So, when emotions play such a deep part in our own life, shouldn't every person who comes along in our life deserve respect and value?
People many times make mistake in differentiating the quality of power from arrogance. A truly powerful person need not have to show arrogance. For example Jesus was considered very powerful. He was able to influence a huge number of people. The 'true influencer'. Not as in the marketing term of an influencer. A person who influenced so many even today people are trying to read Bible and interpret.
Humility, respect and compassion: Compared to arrogance and egoistic attitude, humility and compassion speaks volumes. That is why people with humility and compassion are able to influence millions without sticks, guns or batons compared to dictators who have to use the help of guns or things that the crowds fear. Fear can never influence anyone. Yes. the person may do the needed task under the threat or the fear of retaliation. But the amount of work done would be much less compared to when given respect and compassion.
Receiving respect and compassion from another makes a person to go above and beyond their own life and values. Abraham Lincoln lost his own mother to milk fever when he was just eight years old. Next two years Abraham and his older sister Sarah lived a very disheveled and unorganized existence. Even though Abraham was very much interested in reading and analysis, no one was there to guide him or care for him. Thomas Lincoln thought reading and writing were a waste of time and Abraham could use his time more productively.
After two years his dad Thomas Lincoln remarried. Sarah Bush Lincoln was Abraham Lincoln's step mother. She realized Abraham was a very gifted child. She brought organization and structure into Abraham and his sister Sarah's life. The step mother cared deeply for Abraham. The motherless ten year old Abraham suddenly found a person who deeply cared about him. He put in all his might into reading, writing and thinking. The way Sarah Bush Lincoln cared about him made a very big impression on him. He wanted to become the very best in his own life. He always considered his step mother as his own mother. The value of love. care and compassion. The rest became history.
The true power does not come from fear, trying to force someone to do something or by mere arrogance. Instead even tough tactics done with deep care and compassion kick starts a Soul to make deep changes in their own life. But in this rush to make something of ourselves we have left behind compassion, humility and humanity. We are asked to 'project our power' by self-improvement books and diy improvement tactics. If we don't feel good enough within ourselves, how can we ever feel powerful? Can you put a band-aid, if there is a deep gash and stitches are needed?
So, there are other innate qualities that are needed for a Soul to feel powerful. Putting up a show of power outside does not do anything to oneself and one's life. The power of a Soul lies deep within, in the core. A being has to find these qualities within. Then without projecting or showing off a being genuinely embrace their own inner power. So, now let us discuss the qualities that afford us this deep innate power.
Value: The quality of inner-value a being has. As a being we need to know our value. A being who does not truly understand their own value is weak and a pathetic sight to see. This value does not come from outside- the family into which we are born into, the material things we have or the cars we drive or the houses we have. These all are things that give outer value. These can get removed any day. Any day we lose all these that exact moment we become value less, if we give too much importance to outside things. So, true values should never come from outside.
The values should come from within. The talents and passions we have. The sharp and inquisitive mind we have. The ideas and creativity we have. The mind and brain that allows us to pursue the knowledge and wisdom we want. The body and health we have. The compassionate, caring and helpful nature we embrace. The values from within. Once we develop this perspective, the value is not in the outside things, but within us. We carry it within us. As long as out mind is intact, nobody can remove those values or devalue us.
But to understand value from this side, we should stop living with a 'looking outside' perspective. Instead we should turn within. But as we are living in an 'outside facing' world, we many times not even realize this perspective. We are always watching outside. Nowadays internet, web and social-media has made this even more stronger. Instead of bringing up our innate value we spend random time on the internet and social media. But do we have abundant unlimited amount of time? No.
Unfortunately in this 'outside watching world' we forget, each of us, the being has only very limited amount of time, between the first breath and the last breath. So, it becomes even more imperative to truly acquire things that add value. Once we have that innate value, we can expand more by bringing in wealth and money using our ideas, passions and creativity. Humans many times have not even a clue about this.
Innate value. Nothing comes close to that. Nowadays, this is my thought process- By virtue of one being born, they are valuable. Otherwise, they don't have to be born, isn't it? Would any Soul be born if they don't have some work to do in this world? No. So, everyone has a purpose to do. It can as small as growing a garden or as big as freeing the slaves as Abraham Lincoln did. But everyone has come with a purpose, which is kept wired in the heart. When we go behind the mind, we move very far away from our own life. This leads to even lesser value for ourselves as the circumstance probably do not work for us.
Confidence: When we follow the heart, we align with our own higher purpose- Dharma. This path is led by our intuition and later supported by our mind. Our Soul, heart, intuition, Dharma, emotional and logical minds aligned together. This gives us a deep trust and faith in ourselves. This trust is not on the outer things. But on ourselves. Above everything, we have us and our purpose that helps us to lead our life to the highest potential.
During these Coronavirus times, many of us have lost jobs. Many have been displaced. Many are struggling with health, mortgage, financial and social restrictions. At this time, above the outer things we definitely need to trust ourselves and have more confidence in ourselves. The first time around wasn't it our mind and heart that brought us our education, health and wealth. At that time we trusted ourselves. What has changed now not to trust ourselves?
It has been found that during the Nazi concentration camp days, the prisoners who had inner trust, confidence and resilience used to survive the camps with less diseases and health issues. The neurologist, Victor Frankl who counselled fellow prisoners used to tell them, instead of pleasure and power, a human needs to findt meaning in their own life and existence. Our inner light is the one that can carry us through the dark times. In these times we need to find the meaning for our own life, something above and beyond ourselves.
When we find that, our life takes a greater meaning. Something greater that ourselves. That brings us enormous inner confidence and faith in ourselves. This is a very powerful space within our life with our Dharma, purpose, heart, Soul, body and mind aligned. It is only when we stand aligned with everyone of the above things, we become a powerful being. Don't think this being is less. This is the being who has taken up all the things their own life has to offer.
Such a person is not weak, self-pitying and crying over things that didn't happen. Instead they stand powerfully in the present, making the past as foundation to build towards the future. But to become this being, the person should be powerfully aligned with their own inner truth and Dharma. It is not enough to put 20% or 80% effort towards it. But cent percent genuine effort from the mind, heart, body and the Soul. All in.
Such a person takes up the stance of 'In the image of God' as Bible refers to or the Viswaroopa as Hinduism extols. This is one of the greatest stance a being can take while in the form of a human. No, it is not easy. I just have insights and inklings about such a state, that is all. This is the ultimate power of spirituality any person can get being in their Earthly body form. Such a person becomes, 'Aham Brahma Asmi'- I am the creator of my experiences.
Each one of us have the potential to reach this stage in our life. Our life should be extremely aligned with our inner truth, Dharma and a mind to serve towards the highest good. When we decide to follow our intuition, this path of a seeker starts to open up. But for that each of us need to make a promise to ourselves to find what our own life is trying to teach us. For that we need to develop our own deep awareness to know ourselves and our life deeply.
Now, whether to do that deep inner work or not, that is always a being's free will and choice!
