Hope all of you are doing well in these pandemic and Coronavirus times. I feel myself like a broken record or parrot. Unfortunately, within last few weeks the condition has taken a downward turn with multiple mutants and variants of the virus.
Humanity, we need to work together with logic, compassion for each other and a deep scientific temper to come out of this pandemic. It is not a hoax, fake news, misinformation or conspiracy theory. It is that mindset that is going to keep the humanity tied down within our own homes for next three to even four years, if we are not careful and taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. The best thing is wear masks, wash hands frequently, socially distance and get the vaccine when it is accessible. Also don't crowd and do festivals, when the pandemic is raging, whether Kumbhamela or Carnival or Christmas, because the world needs to first come out of this pandemic, so that the humans and world can move around freely once again.
Okay, that point out of the picture, let us concentrate on today's blog post. Last week, we discussed how the mind, especially the logical mind has to move out of the picture saying, "I know nothing", so that a greater mind and higher Self would take charge of the reins of our life. Usually, the smaller monkey mind is a toddler of three to five years of age who wants attention every second of the day. But if the mind is allowed to do that the being can never get a break from tending to such a mind and do things that add more value to their own life and creativity.
Human mind: If we truly understand, the human mind runs the show called "human life and the human world". Anything and everything that happens for our life first occurs as a thought in our deeper mind and bubbles up to the fore-front of the mind. If we think that thought is great/good enough we make intentions, later plans, talk about it and take actions. At this time, I want to point out the value systems, we discussed before. As the value system, so is our thoughts, plans, intentions and later, actions.
A great mind like Abraham Lincoln or Mahatma Gandhi read books that developed their value systems, which brought up ideas that they acted upon, that finally led to Emancipation Proclamation as well as the Indian Independence. Think like this. If the mind had been mediocre and unethical, Abraham Lincoln would not have had the courage to stand up against half of the United States who wanted to continue the slave trade and the benefits cultivated from that. He would have made a deal with them and the slave trade would have continued for a pretty long time. But he didn't. A mind with ethics, character and integrity.

Same way, in the case of Mahatma Gandhi, thousands of rupees of Indians, normal every day farmer/worker/daily wage earner passed through his and his organization's hands. But his ethical mind never flinched for a second. It was deeply plugged into a concept called Swaraj- Swa-Self, Raj-governance. Self-governance through independence of India. Again, a mind with ethics, character and integrity. So, value systems are imperative to each and every Soul who are focused on their path of duty and purpose-Dharma.
Otherwise in a chaotic, confusing, greedy, arrogant and ego laden material world overflowing with goodies that dazzles the eyes and mind, it becomes difficult to keep the sight laser latched onto substance of value and worth. The chances for a human being to be toppled by wealth, power, money, influence, women, and other vices are many. Look at every underworld, politics or religious cult movie. This truth is showcased again and again.
Rahu, the vicious snake charming magician at lower vibrations has the power to keep a human Soul ensnared. The same Rahu in higher vibrations is a healer who can deeply heal the hang ups of the human mind. Here, I want to mention a South Indian, Kerala God, Vettakkorumakan, who is considered the son of Shiva and Parvathi, when they took the disguise of a hunter and wife in one of their sojourns to Earth. He, Vettakkorumakan was born to them.
Vettakkuorumakan: I suddenly felt while writing, I need to write Rahu at least sometimes as a healer. I have tried enough to portray his low vibratory qualities. Also, for many weeks, the blog posts have been laden with deepest of Vedic philosophies. Why not let me intersperse some Hindu mythology in between. Also, the world is going through a pandemic and it is said in the Western astrology that we as humanity are at the cusp of the age of Aquarius, the sign in which comes the nakshatra, Sathabhishek- Satha-the hundred, Bhishek-healers (Chathayam). So, a very apt God to elaborate on Rahu, Sathabhishek and Aquarius, which has the symbol of a Universal healer- a man or woman pouring the Universal wisdom from a pot.

Think of the other storm God, Rudra. Similar energy. By the way, another small tip. Rudra is the God depicted for the other Rahu nakshatra, Ardra, while Vettakkorumakan is more for Sathabhishek. Somehow, I intuitively feel Vettakkorumakan aligns more with this nakshatra. Both Rudra and Vettakkorumakan as Rahu energy can use the powers of magic. Both are great at magic.
The story of the sword: When Vettakkorumakan was born he loved to do magic. He as I remember in one story while as a young lad came across a king who respected him and he blessed the king saying he would always be with that family as a family deity. Now, as this particular young God loved to do magic, he started doing small tricks on the people and sages around the place like making them afraid at night, coming in different scary forms, putting stones in their food, drinking the blood of the farm animals (he has some vices), throwing stones at the roof at night and other things.
Now, the people went and complained to the king, who thought for some time and later prayed to Vishnu, the eternal preserver and balancer. This is mythology, which happened eons ago. In those days the Gods used to appear before normal humans. The king and the sages first told the troubles to Brahma who told them to go to Shiva, as he was Shiva's son. When they went to Shiva, he said, a kid/ youth would do tricks and pranks. Didn't help. Later, they went and prayed to Lord Vishnu. Vishnu said, "Don't worry. I would do the needful."
Vishnu came to see the youth God who was even though very respectful had a mind of his own as well. So, Vishnu realized, it may not be possible to make the youth to stop his shenanigans. So, he had to become smarter. So, Vishnu made him aware that he, Vettakkorumakan has taken up the duty of protecting the king's family as a family deity, but he had no weapon of his own. Then Vishnu suggested, he has a sword in his hand and he can pass it to the younger God. The only condition is the sword always has to be held in the right hand. The second the sword is kept down it would disappear or become pretty much useless.
Vettakkorumakan who wanted the sword, which was mighty and shiny without further thought, said, "Agreed. I want the sword. I won't keep it down". The next second Vishnu gave the sword in the hands of the young God, "There, your sword". The youth God was very happy, he received the sword. Vishnu disappeared as well. The younger God for some time enjoyed the beauty of the sword.
After sometime he started getting bored. Time for some magic and to make the people fearful and afraid. The mind was ready with intentions, plans and words. Only actions of the hand are needed. Suddenly he realized, "Oh, ho! I have a sword in my right hand. How to do magic and scare the people?" 😂 Like, this Vishnu tricked Vettakkorumakan to stop the shenanigans of the magic.

But otherwise, he is a deep healer who has every Rahu characteristics and helps the devotees to come out of the evil and lower effects of Rahu. An a-one magician who deeply protects, guards and helps his devotees. As he works with magic, he also removes the worry, fear, chaos and confusion from the human mind. He uses the magic of his hands, mind and mantra to bring magic of healing, health and value, of course while still doing some small naughtiness. Remember, only his hands are tied. Not his mind or mouth. He can still bring magic through both. So, Vishnu didn't fully tie his protective or healing abilities, only the egotistic charades. Vishnu's this work most probably made him aware of his deeper duties of protection and healing.
A great deity who heals and a perfect God to pray to in these times of the pandemic and Coronavirus, if anyone prefers. I would attach a Wikipedia image as well, along with this post. It may be to help people during this pandemic, that I was guided to write about him. I had absolutely no plans to write about him when I started this post. But his image appeared in my mind and the story popped up along with the thought, a story and mythology would a welcome change from the deep space of philosophy. And how apt it turned out to be. When the Divine leads always walk with trust and we won't be lost in our life ever again.
The power of the mind: Now, back to the monkey mind. In this story, the young God is using his mind to bring magic. The first time, before the sword, he was using the power of the mind to create things that were scaring the pure human Souls. Usage of the mind without proper thought. Let us bring the scenario from mythical realms to physical life. Think about Hitler. He had influence over a lot of people in and around Germany. But what did he do with it? He used it to decimate a whole population and brought them to great destruction and made evil acts against humanity.
The mind has the power to heal/help as well as destroy/decimate. The above story of Vettakkorumakan shows the same mind, when used with discipline and dedication above helping/ protecting itself can help and protects others and work towards the greater good of all as well. What an apt and perfect God to portray the magic of the mind. We, as humans are almost clueless about the powers of the mind. Anything and everything in this world first start with a very simple idea. As tiny as an acorn that later grows as huge as a mighty, old Oak.

It can be a movement like the Civil Rights movement or Indian Independence, a company like Google or Amazon, an organization like WHO or United Nations, a platform like Facebook or Quora, or a terror network like Al Queda or ISIS. A few minds at the top decides, is the sword of the mind helping to protect and preserve or destroy and decimate? Because the mind has amazing creative powers and the humanity has not even scratched the surface of the potential of the human mind. High times a few humans other than saints, sages and hermits come into this arena.
But this exploration is not concentrated to the outside, but towards the inside, the realm of the inner worlds. I have written many blog posts about the mind. Every time I write, I become more and more charmed and enchanted. That is the way of the mind and its so many shades. This enchantment is portrayed as the deep affinity that exists between Moon, the mind and Rahu, the unquenchable thirst for something, in my case it is the mind and the inner worlds of heart and Soul. Rahu- who cannot be swallowed because he is too bitter and who cannot be spat out because he is too sweet. Only he can be controlled and disciplined to work along with the mind, as Vishnu did with Vettakkorumakan.
Rahu if disciplined has amazing spiritual and healing gifts to provide. The energy is that of a teenager/youth or young God. If not controlled he would pull on his leather jacket, jeans, wear his Sun glasses, take his electric guitar and go on a swing in his Harley Davidson of a bike. He would place the human mind at pillion of his bike while he takes his road trip as well. The mind would go up and down on a roller coaster of anger and emotions. Very rash, arrogant and egotistic energy. If the same Rahu has aspects of Jupiter or Saturn, the deepest teachers/ grandfathers, he acts as a youth who listens to his grandfather and learns the disciplined tricks and trades of healing. A very elegant, helpful healing energy- the protection of the young God, Vettakkorumakan.
With this blog post, I invoke Vettakkorumakan to bring health, healing and welfare to every being of this world and may the world come back to it's previous normal days out of this pandemic at the earliest possible chance. Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu- May the whole world be filled with health and joy! Tadashtu- So, it is! 😊🙏
